Beriberi is divided into two types:-

  1. Wet beriberi
  2. Dry beriberi

Symptoms of Wet Beriberi

  • Waking up short of breath
  • Shortness of breath during physical activity

Symptoms of Dry Beriberi

  • Paralysis
  • Involuntary eye movement
  • Vomiting
  • Difficulty in breathing
  • Pain
  • Mental confusion
  • Tingling in feet and hands
  • Decreased muscle function

Causes of Beriberi

Lack of vitamin B-1 is the common cause of beriberi often called lack of thiamine.

It is considered best to take healthy and good diet to fulfill the deficiency in the body and to treat this disease as early as possible.
