ABOUT INTERSTITIAL CYSTITIS

Interstitial cystitis is also known as Bladder Pain Syndrome. Interstitial cystitis is the condition which leads you to experience the discomfort, pressure and pain in bladder. Interstitial cystitis affects the women and remains for the longer duration. In women symptoms become worst during the menstruation. Sometimes women experience the pain during vaginal intercourse.

ACTUALLY WHAT DOES HAPPEN IN INTERSTITIAL CYSTITIS?

Our bladder is a muscular sac in the pelvis that stores urine. Bladder gets expand until it's full and then brain receives the signal through pelvic nerves that it's the time to urinate. But in the case of interstitial cystitis these signals get mixed which leads the urge to urinate more frequently with small volumes than normal people.

WHAT CAN BE THE CAUSES WITH INTERSTITIAL CYSTITIS?

  • Few Symptoms of interstitial cystitis resemble like bacterial infections but medical tests do not disclose any organism in the urine samples of patients.
  • Hence exact cause of interstitial cystitis is not known. For instance, there is defect in the lining (epithelium) of bladder. So due to the leakage in the epithelium permit the toxic substances to get mixed in urine which results in bladder irritation.
  • Cause of interstitial cystitis may also include infection, allergy, auto immune problems and heredity factors.

AYURVEDIC OUTLOOK

In cohesion with Ayurveda, interstitial cystitis is due to the imbalancing of vata and pitta dosha. Aggravated Vata and pitta dosha produce the toxic substances in kidney, urethra and pelvic area. Accumulation of toxic substances causes the frequent and painful urination. Vata dosha symbolizes dryness in body. Apana vata in found in lower pelvic region and helps in the good filtration by urine, stool and menstruation processes. Pitta dosha symbolizes heat in body. Burning sensation or painful sensation in the urine is an indicator of aggravated pitta dosha.
