Causes Associated with Psychosis
- Brain diseases like Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, Huntington's disease and some chromosomal disorders are the causes of psychosis.
- Brain tumors.
- Infection which attack the brain like syphilis and HIV.
- Stroke.
- Certain type of epilepsy.
Cause of Psychosis in Ayurveda
According to Ayurveda, there are three energies vata, pitta and kapha which are responsible for a healthy body. Imbalance in any of three energies results in the health complications. Psychosis occurs due to imbalance of psychic energies - sattva, raja and tama in connection with imbalance of physical energies which are vata, pitta and kapha. Psychosis is the result of delusions, indulgence of negative emotions like anger and hatred. Psychosis is called Unmad in Ayurveda.
