Prusta Basti
Treatment tips :
Prusta Basti is a type of Ayurvedic treatment that involves the administration of medicated oil or decoctions through the rectum. It's a form of enema therapy and is considered one of the Panchakarma treatments, which aim to detoxify and rejuvenate the body.
Procedure:
1. Preparation: The patient is required to have an empty stomach and empty their bowels before the procedure. The therapist then prepares the medicated oil or decoction according to the patient's needs.
2. Positioning: The patient is made to lie down on their left side with their left leg extended and right leg bent at the knee. This position helps facilitate the insertion of the enema nozzle.
3. Insertion and Administration: The medicated oil or decoction is inserted into the rectum through a specially designed nozzle. The therapist administers the liquid while massaging the abdomen to help it spread and get absorbed by the body.
4. Retention and Elimination: The patient is required to hold the enema for a specific duration, during which the medicinal properties get absorbed through the rectal mucosa. After the specified time, the patient can eliminate the liquid along with toxins.
Benefits:
1. Detoxification: Prusta Basti helps in removing accumulated toxins from the lower digestive tract and rectum, aiding in overall detoxification of the body.
2. Digestive Health: It can improve digestion and relieve conditions like constipation, bloating, and gas.
3. Joint Health: Prusta Basti is believed to provide relief from joint-related issues like pain, inflammation, and stiffness.
4. Nervous System: This treatment is said to have a positive impact on the nervous system, promoting relaxation and reducing stress.
5. Rejuvenation: By removing toxins and improving bodily functions, Prusta Basti can contribute to rejuvenation and vitality.
6. Skin Health: Ayurveda suggests that this treatment can improve skin health by addressing internal imbalances that might manifest as skin disorders.
It's important to note that Prusta Basti, like any other medical procedure, should be administered by trained and qualified practitioners. Before undergoing any Ayurvedic treatment, it's recommended to consult a certified Ayurvedic physician to determine whether it's suitable for your specific needs and health condition.
